Ive just returned from a weeks trip to Naarma Bay Tropicana rosetta in Sharm with my friend. We are two girls in our twenties and I thought I would pass on what we found: Naarma Bay resort is very lively with hundreds of shops, bars and places to eat. Luckily we met some great people who live there and let us in on the best places to go. Pascha is the main club and the best night to go is Thursday night. It doesnt get going til 12 and stays open til about 6. The place is done out like a russian palace or something and there is an outside dancefloor and podium dancers.

Little Buddah is a very cool bar and restaurant in Naarma Bay. The food there is lovely too and the sushi is quite cheap compared to the UK.

The Black House Club in Rosetta is a bit dodgy most nights as its full of lechy men but Sunday night is actually really cool. If you are still up for it after the clubs close around 4am there is an after hours club on the main road out of Naarma Bay called Kamanga. We stayed til 7am one night!!! Camel Bar is popular with the Brits and has a good roof terrace. Its Ok early on before a club but its a bit less classy than some of the other places.

I would recommend Tam Tam on the prom in Naarma. Panorama Bar is good if you want to smoke a Shisha as the view is amazing, especially in the early evening. You can also have fab fresh mango juice here.

Weather wise we went in Jan and it was in the high 20s by day but be warned it goes dark early 5pm and gets cold at night so deffo take warm clothes and jackets. Overall, a great holiday and totally suitable for two girls on their own, so enjoy!!!! Hi, recently we spent two weeks in Sharm el Sheihk and I can honestly say it was fantastic. The weather was 35 degrees on average so not to hot.

We stayed at the coral beach hotel a four star venue. Staying on a DBB basis the food was nice and very varied. In regards to trips we vistited a monestry, and went quad biking in the dessert it was well good! We also went on a two day trip to Cairo by coach we stay at a 4 star hotel and visited museum, pyramids and the light and sound show and a boat on the nile.

Very relaxing holiday, locals really great people and friendly. Taxis are very ceap. We've just returned from a 2 week holiday in Sharm. We had a fabulous time. We stayed at the Marriott see seperate review on that which is in Naama Bay, about a 15 min walk from the main street. The weather was great, between the whole time. The beach is nice and clean, all partioned off for each hotel. The sea was warmish, you only had to walk out a few paces and the corals and fish were there - it was amazing - you definitely should snorkel while you are there, and I would recommend you wear sea shoes - we took our own but you could buy them there if you wanted.

Lots of boat trips on offer all at reasonable prices. The whole experience was a string of dissappointments. Tipping is normal in Egypt but it's not tipping for service, it's tipping to take your money. Their idea of service is not related to what you actually need, rather it's about what they want to give. We knew we were going to a purpose built holiday location but we didn't expect it to be like Blackpool.

Naama Bay is just so tacky. During the day, walking down the main street is like running the gauntlet, with salesmen running after you trying to sell you complete tat.

We met a couple of Scottish guys who had been led into a papyrus shop, where the door was locked behind them and the lights switched off until they bought something. In the end we just had to ignore anyone that said, 'where are you from? Hating Naama Bay so much we went on 3 trips. Firstly, walking up Mt Sinai by night. Be warned, you are not told how long things actually take.

We spent 5 hours walking up the mountain only stopping at the guides 'friends' cafes ie huts where we were instructed to sit down and buy tea. St Catherines monestary was great but the trip we were told would get us back for 11am was now extended to 1pm, so we were all in a state of exhaustion from being awake all night and probably would have got more from it during a day trip.

Our second trip was stargazing in the desert with the Bedouin which was fantastic. They have a telescope set up so you can look at the rings of saturn and the craters of the moon before being served the only real Egyptian meal we had all week. The Bedouin were so welcoming; a stark difference from every other person we met who treated us merely as a source of money.

Lastly, we went to Cairo by bus. We were told that it would be a big coach but it turned out to be a 12 seater mini bus thing that it was impossible to sleep in.

I lay at the back and got literally thrown out my seat every time the car went over a bump in the road, which there are many of. On arriving in Cairo were handed over to a guide that didnt ask us our names, all 4 of us on the trip that is. She was clearly so bored doing the same thing day in day out that I felt we were an imposition.

We were taken to Giza first and plopped on a camel. As soon as we were 5 minutes into the journey and out of sight of the guide, the lad leading my camel demanded more money.

Then he came and sat on my camel in front of me and wouldnt go any further demanding money. I had given my purse to my boyfriend who had gone with the guide! We then got dumped in the desert and had to walk the way back. Not pleasant at all. Our flight home was delayed by 5 hours. There was no apology whatsoever from the tour operator. On arrival at the airport we were given a slice of free pizza which gave both of us a stomach upset that I still have right now.

I'm glad I wasn't sick in the airport because the toilets there are disgusting. In fact, all the toilets I used outside of Naama Bay were disgusting. Overall I have to say that if you are not diving don't bother going to Sharm El Shiekh. It's an unhygenic, tacky nightmare full of men that leer at western women and want to take your money off you at any opportunity.

Illustrated by revealing interviews with women and men in the tourist resorts in the Sinai, Egypt, this book is ostensibly about western women who sleep with 'native' men while on holiday. Broadening the scope of issues involved, it examines the link between these holiday romances and a much wider romanticism of place and people - of the landscapes of paradise, deserts and the lure of the Bedouin sheikh - that are used to sell these destinations. It argues that the romantic stereotyping and deliberate positioning of 'Third World' resorts as places that somehow exist outside of the modernities the women come from is inextricably bound up in the relationships.

Single Women For You In Sharm El Sheikh, Afro Romance

I was actually born in cairo but have lived in the us my entire life. I was wondering if there are a lot of single women in sharm and how hard is it to make new friends over there. I plan on staying a few months and doing a lot of scuba diving and maybe some golfing. I also would like to know if there is reliable high speed internet there and if you can get it in an apartment.
