An Open Letter To My Future Husband

First off — if you are reading this, you need to know how special you are to me. How important you are to me. How loved you are by me. When I think about my future with you, my stomach fills with all the good types of butterflies. Every day, I hope that you are the smart, kind, strong man that I see in my dreams. I pray that everyone close to me loves you as much as I do. Why am I taking the time to write this letter to you?

I think you need to know what exactly you are getting into and how to love someone like myself — an adventurous, impulsive, spontaneous woman. The concept of love? Those dozen red roses although I usually prefer orange? I truly only need one — just like I only need one of you. Call me beautiful. Hold my hand when we walk down the street. Fulfill my dream of kissing in the rain, a la Noah and Allie in The Notebook.

Those small things will continuously keep a smile on my face. Laughing and loving are two of my many philosophies in life. My dream relationship? Laughter, inside jokes… and a lot of kisses. What I need from you is to keep me laughing and be my rock when I feel like the world is falling apart.

Despite my happy exterior, I can be sensitive. They can kick me down over and over, but believe me — I will try to be there and catch the person when he or she falls. When these people push me down, I need you to pick up the pieces.

To be honest? All I want is a simple life. A loving family and friends do. They are everything to me, which is more than any amount of money can give me. Post this everywhere that you look. Make it a reminder on your phone. Highlight it. Put it on a Post-It note. Whatever helps you remember this, do it. I can get angry and go from zero to one hundred in the split of a second. I can be stubborn. I am warning you now: I can be a bit okay — a lot over-dramatic. If I wake you up in the middle of the night from crying or sheer worry, just be gentle with me.

Play with the hair on the back of my neck. Give me a good massage. Kiss me until I calm down. Just a heads up, and I apologize in advance. There will be times when things get tough and we will thing that our marriage is beyond repair. If my parents were able to survive almost divorcing twice, we will be able to work things out and grow from every argument.

Last but never the least: I trust myself to know that I am marrying you because my love for you runs deep. The person you are, the person you bring out in me — I love all of you. Flaws and all. I am marrying you and no matter what happens, my love for you will never stop growing.

You are my lobster, as Phoebe said in Friends. You are my soulmate. You are my one. Life is going to be a rollercoaster, but it will be the best ride of our lives. Your future wife. Sign up for the Thought Catalog Weekly and get the best stories from the week to your inbox every Friday.

Who Will Be My Future Husband?

Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior, but from his side to stand with man. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved. All of my life I have prayed that God would bless me with a husband who would bring me closer to Him.

Wondering who will be your future husband? Maybe you already know him. Maybe you're dating him

You love a man that is driven and hard working. After months of harmless office flirting, you're finally ready to take it to the next level! You are very passionate about your work and are extremely goal oriented. You meet your soul mate in one of your classes or maybe on campus! You love to have fun and let loose!

How Will You Meet Your Future Husband?

Tonight I miss you. I wonder about how it would be to have you just with me, maybe while I do my thing and you do yours. I'm studying light right now for this essay I'm working on. I should be working on getting products into my shop. But I love to learn and I miss writing. If you were here, I would tell you about how cool the human eye is. I would tell you about how mind-blowing it is that there are galaxies 13 billion light years away. And we would just think about that for a second and then come back to earth. I'm ok without you, but I think some part of me forces myself deeper into my work so that I don't think about the absence of you. There are always times like this, you know, when I set my heart on something and for just a second, let it hop off the treadmill that drives my dreams forward.

Darling, you are such a great husband and father! Jump to. Sections of this page. Accessibility Help.

This morning on my way to work I started contemplating all of the possibilities.

Most single women envision what they would like their marriages to be like, with certain expectations of the man they expect to spend their lives with. Some of these expectations are influenced by fairy tale movies and soap operas they have watched, not to mention reality shows, celebrity tweets and Instagram photos. They would like to introduce themselves to their future husbands to let them know they are getting themselves into. Dear future husband, perhaps we went to preschool together, or maybe we said passing hellos along the university campus corridors.
