For any lover of Thai food a trip to Bangkok is a bit of a pilgrimage.I remember the stories of eating idli-dosa heard from relatives who travelled to South India in my childhood. The question put to them always was “So how are the Dosas in Madras?”(as if they were cousins of MGR). The reply usually had a discordant note about the use of coconut oil.But those were the good old times when travelling within the country was a big deal and Thai food unheard of in India. When my much better half travelled to Bangkok 10 years back the question I asked was the same,”So how does Thai curry taste in Thailand”.The reply cased a pang of acute jealousy. To remedy matters we made a real impromptu trip to Bangkok( how about a time frame of 3 hours from idea to airport sound?).Bangkok has a well earned reputation for being a different city to different people, from Sin city( an inspiration for my cheeky captions) to spiritual oasis with food providing the required pause and punctuation. An impromptu trip means a lot of on the ground figuring out but as far as food is concerned its ubiquitous and always good. Here are few images of food I captured on that trip.Hope they inspires your own culinary journey.Bon Appetit!

(Disclaimer:I did not eat everything I photographed, I am still a vegetarian taking baby steps towards eating “non-veg”)
